Is there any kind of cheating that isn’t tolerated in China? You can lie about your age, you can cut in line, you can pirate what you want, and now, you can apparently bite whoever you want.

During a Chinese national wrestling tournament, one wrestler named Alibieke bit his opponent, Yeerlanbieke Katai, while the two grappled.

According to spectators, “Katai let out a bloodcurdling cry and protested to the referee that he had been bitten.” Presumably, his bloodcurdling cry sounded something like “ALIBIEKE!”

After the match, Katai said, “If it wasn’t for that, I would have definitely finished that attack and taken the set.”

Despite his protest, and despite sporting a bite mark on his elbow, the match continued with Alibieke only receiving a warning for his “unintentional” bite.

“Wrestling is an intense sport… Athletes, it can be said, are exerting their all and sometimes are not able to control themselves very well,” said Dong Shenghui, wrestling director within China’s General Administration of Sports.

Mike Tyson wishes Dong Shenghui had chosen to be a boxing director here in the United States instead.

Sumo wrestling fans in Japan are becoming increasingly worried about the sanctity of the sport as more and more wrestlers have been getting caught with marijuana. So that fat stoner friend of yours might not be a waste, he could be in training.

While Michael Phelps can get caught smoking weed out of a bong and have people go only slightly nuts, if sumo wrestlers get caught, they are looked upon with shame, scorn, and all those other things usually reserved for murderers.

Of course, drug use is much less frequent in Japan, and the penalties are much stronger.

In the past few months, four wrestlers have been kicked out of the sport, including one from Japan and three from Russia.

The latest bust of a wrestler named Wakakirin has seen the largest outcry.

“We are appalled by his utter folly,” said The Asahi newspaper. “Some young people casually try pot. It is vital that we educate them on the risks of this drug from a fairly early age.”

Typically, sumo wrestlers live in stables where they learn the traditions of sumo from older masters. However, lately these traditions have become less strict as a new generation of stablemasters joins the sport.

“In the most recent cases, the normal connections are not there anymore,” said David Shapiro, a sumo color commentator for broadcaster NHK. “Stable masters normally are your surrogate fathers and now they are your surrogate stepfathers. There are certain stables where this never would have happened.”

This is not a situation where being a star can get you out of trouble. The governing body & their rules are strict, so sumo wrestlers are going to have to just say no.

Among bad ideas, stalking and challenging wrestlers to a fight would be near the top of the list. But that’s just what former wannabe pro wrestler Marlon Pagtakhan did when he showed up and screamed at the wrestlers at the All Pro Wrestling studio in Hayward, California.

Over the past few months, Pagtakhan allegedly had been stalking several wrestlers at the studio, which trains people to be professional wrestlers. Much of the stalking attention was focused on someone called “MsChif”, who presumably is a female wrestler he had an interest in.

It seems our friend Marlon has a long history of stalking people. In 2001, he was convicted of stalking Star Trek: Voyager star Jeri Ryan and her boyfriend. In that case, he posted on Star Trek message boards asking for money, threatening to beat up her boyfriend if he wasn’t paid.

While the stalking of the wrestlers had gone on for some time, Pagtakhan was finally arrested when he showed up at the wrestling studio, angry that they had excluded him from their group.

I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to be friends with Marlon, he seems like such a great guy.
