Flavia Zoccari’s Swimsuit Tears, Exposing Her Butt To Fans At Mediterranean Games

Those fancy new swimsuits that are helping swimmers smash world records also have an unfortunate side effect: Since they are thin and form-fitting, they can also tear easily.

Italian Olympic swimmer Flavia Zoccari found that out the hard way at the Mediterranean Games. The ass of Zoccari’s £318 Jaked J01 swimsuit tore, exposing her rear end and preventing her from racing. A disappointed Zoccari was seen crying after the tear turned whatever the race was into the butterfly.

Maybe Jaked should change their name to Naked. And maybe next time the race organizers could allow competitors to make a quick change into a new swimsuit when their current one tears and they flash their ass to the crowd, so they don’t end up partially naked and crying.

High School Swimming Coach Fired After Repeatedly Making Offensive T-Shirts For Swim Team

When you’re a high school swim coach, your time is probably best spent encouraging your swimmers, showing them how they can swim faster & improving their technique.

Kevin Quill, now former swim coach at Connecticut’s Seymour High School, also believed that making questionable t-shirts should be part of his job description.

On 3 separate occasions, Quill had shirts made with customized slogans that took shots at opponents or even his own team.

The latest incident came after one swimmer nicknamed “The Mascot” quit the team after not being named a captain. So naturally, the team, encouraged by their coach, wore t-shirts that read “The Mascot is a quitter,” According to Quill, the shirts were “not poking fun at the student (Mascot), but instead were poking fun at the situation,” which is pretty much the same thing.

This was the final straw in an illustrious t-shirt making career.

His previous two strikes:

He made shirts for the girls’ swim team that read “The Wetter, The Better.” Hmm, what did he mean by that? Surely he was just offering more sage coaching advice. School officials did not take this coaching well and forced the girls to wear the shirts inside out.
He made shirts that read: “Smashing the Competition, One Tree … One Team at a Time.” While on the surface this might seem like a friendly, competitive shirt, it’s completely tasteless once you know the true story. The shirts were made in response to a swimmer from a rival school getting into a car accident, suffering a severe head injury, and then ending up in a coma. That’s class.

After several reprimands and these 3 t-shirt incidents, the school district had had enough. Quill has been dismissed.

Following news of Coach Quill’s dismissal, emergency e-mails were sent out at Cafepress, as the company’s 2009 profit is expected to fall short of expectations.

According to British tabloid News of the World, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps was caught smoking marijuana out of a bong while partying in South Carolina on November 6th. They even have a photo of Phelps to prove it. A witness at the party said:

You could tell Michael had smoked before. He grabbed the bong and a lighter and knew exactly what to do. He looked just as natural with a bong in his hands as he does swimming in the pool. He was the gold medal winner of bong hits. Michael ended up getting a little paranoid, though, because before too long he looked like he was nervous and ran out of the place.

Michael Phelps rightfully was paranoid, as there was now obviously someone snapping photos of him with a bong at that party. There will be a lot of outrage in the coming days about Phelps, about how he’s not setting a positive example for the kids, about how he’s blowing away (in a puff of weed smoke) endorsement opportunities. Or will there be?

Obviously, the News of the World wanted this to be a big story to sell papers. Yet their timing of this comes during one of the biggest sports weekends of the year in the United States. Nobody here is going to care about anything other than the Super Bowl for the next couple of days, and by then, this all will have blown over.

Even if it hasn’t, Phelps has probably already cashed in on 90% of the endorsements he’ll get from the Beijing Olympics. Sure, he could lose some future endorsements, but new doors will open up. Goodbye, Wheaties, hello, Cheetos.

Hell, he could even start endorsing bongs. I can see the ads of him swimming in a water pipe already.

Is Michael Phelps perfect? Hardly. This isn’t his first controversy involving partying. But he’s human. And as long as he’s not doing things that are hurting other people (no more DUIs), let’s cut the guy some slack. Yes, smoking weed is illegal, but there are far worse people doing far worse things right now, so really, everyone who is about to lose it over this, please gain some perspective and calm down. If you need some help, Michael can hook you up.

Her family was unable to provide real prosthetics, and as a result, she was put into a basketball, which she then hopped around in like a human Weeble.

Despite her disability, this young Chinese girl has dreams of participating in the 2012 Paralympics in London. No, not in the basketball event, but in swimming.

She swims 2000 meters every day in training in order to prepare to achieve her dream of swimming for Team China.

It’s pretty remarkable what she can do in the pool, but also what she can do with a basketball. She’s had far more success with it than the Oklahoma City Thunder have this season.

British explorer Lewis Gordon Pugh swam for 18 minutes in 29 degree temperatures at the North Pole on Sunday. He did so in an effort to demonstrate the effects of climate change.

“I am obviously ecstatic to have succeeded but this swim is a triumph and a tragedy,” the 37-year-old British lawyer said after coming out of the water.

“A triumph that I could swim in such ferocious conditions, but a tragedy that it’s possible to swim at the North Pole.”

Pugh hopes that his swim will make world leaders pay attention to the issue of climate change, but he will settle for having his balls return to their normal size within the next year.
