Pigeon Killed By Flying Cricket Ball, Courtesy Of Jacques Rudolph: Video

This video has been making the rounds for the past few days and I never got around to posting it, but it’s so good that I couldn’t not put it up. So if you haven’t seen it by now, here you go, and if you have, watch it again.

During a Twenty20 cricket match between Yorkshire and Lancashire, the crowd suddenly erupted in the middle of play. The announcers were confused at first, but then realized why the everyone had shouted. A pigeon had just been killed in the middle of play.

A replay then showed the culprit. Cricketer Jacques Rudolph had made a perfect Randy Johnson-style throw, nailing the bird in mid-air.

And the pigeon is no more.

In case you wouldn’t have guessed, the above video of a female cricket fan flashing her breasts on camera during a match is not safe for work.

Two attractive blondes sat way up in the stands drinking during a match between the West Indies and someone else, and one decided to flash everyone while the other chatted on her cellphone. Judging by the reaction of the fans, one thing is clear: Men like women who flash their breasts.

There’s a lot of time to fill during cricket matches, so these commentators must have been glad to have something to talk about, no matter how disgusted they sounded at the sight of exposed boobs.

ESPN Promotes Violent Road Rage Game In Video About Donte’ Stallworth Killing A Man With His Car: Video

On Saturday morning, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth hit 59-year-old Mario Reyes with his car, killing him. Reyes was on his way home from work as a nighttime crane operator when Stallworth hit him with his Bentley. Stallworth took sobriety & blood tests at the scene, and it remains to be seen whether or not prosecutors will charge him with a DUI. The Miami Herald today posted video of Stallworth taking these tests as paramedics attempted to save the man’s life behind him.

ESPN.com covered the story, just like many other news outlets. However, other news outlets didn’t run an ad that is as tasteless as the one that ESPN.com is currently running.

Prior to showing the video about Donte’ Stallworth, some viewers first have to sit through an advertisement for a video game. Not just any video game though, a violent video game in which players USE VEHICLES AS WEAPONS & TRY TO INFLICT DAMAGE ON EACH OTHER.

The game, which is called Mad World, is rated M for mature and features “blood and gore” and “intense violence.” Mad World is billed as “bloodsoaked action for the Wii.”

The fact that ESPN would run this ad in front of a video about a man being killed with a car is despicable. While we still don’t know all the details of the Donte’ Stallworth incident, it’s safe to say that this ad should not be appearing anywhere near this coverage.

Not all ESPN.com viewers see this particular ad. It’s quite likely it is entirely random. However, there should still be better oversight than this. The video clip has been up for 2 days now, and who knows how many people have now connected this road rage video game with Donte’ Stallworth killing a man.

Helicopter Lands On Field During Cricket Match In India

During a cricket match in India, play was stopped because of a helicopter landing on the pitch.

Most people would guess that the helicopter had mechanical problems, or was attending to an emergency. Those people would be incorrect.

The pilot of the helicopter was flying over the cricket grounds when he saw a large “H” painted on one corner of the grass. Naturally, he assumed that this “H” stood for helipad.

Instead, it stood for the home team, Himachal Pradesh.

Compounding his mistake was a nearby fire. It seems our hapless pilot thought that he was seeing smoke signals, so he landed. This makes sense, since everyone knows Indians use smoke signals.

Following the match, one manager said, “It landed suddenly. No one knew what was happening. There was chaos. Everyone ran for cover.”

As players scurried, play was halted. It was then stopped for 30 minutes until the pilot could be convinced of his mistake. Apparently, a bunch of guys in white sweaters yelling at him while shaking cricket bats were not sufficient enough to solicit a quick departure.

When Kurt Warner drew that picture of God, perhaps he should have drawn Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Very few American sports stars would reach the point where they would be considered gods these days. Sure, there are guys who reach that level within their home city, but opposing fans surely would disagree. On a national level, even a guy like Michael Phelps is losing his appeal.

Things are much different in India. In the city of Ranchi, a temple is being built in honor of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The temple will contain a statue of Dhoni.

“Dhoni is God to cricket and we have decided to construct a temple. He will be worshipped like other gods are worshipped in temples,” explained Jitendra Singh, president of Dhoni’s fan club.

Seeing as he can apparently fly (like any good god can), why not?

As for Dhoni’s reaction, he said, “I love my fans but this is actually a little over the top.”

Translation: You’re all crazy.
