Boxer brothers arrested after fighting each other

Travis and Tarvis Simms are twin brothers who do everything together. Both got into boxing. And both allegedly beat each other up over the weekend after getting into a fight.

As if the punching each other wasn’t bad enough, a gun and a knife were involved, and Travis’ 10-year-old daughter was somehow bitten on the arm.

The most amusing part of the article is that it includes both fighters’ records. Travis was 26-1, with 19 knockouts, while his twin Tarvis was 24-0-1. Sadly, no further tale of the tape was included, and it is not known if this fight was included in their stats.

The 2nd most amusing part? Travis is also a city councilman. He was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, threatening, and third-degree assault, while his brother was charged with risk of injury to a minor, threatening, and third-degree assault.

Getting into a fight with your twin must be strange. Hopefully one of them said, “Why are you hitting yourself? Why are you hitting yourself?” during the brawl.

In last night’s Who’s Not Honoring Me Now on The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert aired a clip of Mike Tyson cutting off the hair of one of the Jonas Brothers on the Teen Choice Awards (skip ahead to the last minute or two of the video), remarking on how similar it was to when he had his head shaved when he was in Iraq and how they stole his idea.

To conclude the segment, Colbert then challenged Iron Mike, saying, “If I ever see you face-to-face, I will f*ck you up!”

Inevitably, that means Mike Tyson will be on the show within the next couple of weeks, hopefully toting his tiger.

Frank Corti is 71-years-old. He’s also a former boxer who served in the British Army.

Judging by what he did to a knife-wielding man who tried to burglarize his home, Frank could step back into the ring right now if he wanted to.

Not only did he dodge the knife, he managed to nail burglar Gregory McCalium with a couple of wicked right hooks that left the man looking like this:

In the words of what the judge said yesterday when giving McCalium a 4.5 year prison sentence, he got what he deserved.

The former featherweight boxer Corti said, “”He took a slash at me. If I needed to I would do it again. I had the advantage of having done some boxing training and retained the ability to punch.”

That’s for damn sure. If he’s looking for some work, people could do worse than having him for a bodyguard.

Every parent will naturally stick up for their kid, but there comes a point when a dad just has to let things go.

On Saturday night, European Union light welterweight champion Giuseppe Lauri (48-6, 6 KOs) took on Juho Tolppola (22-6-1, 9 KOs) in Helsinki, Finland.

During the 10th round, the referee broke up the two fighters, but Tolppola tried to get one last punch in, swinging for the back of Lauri’s head. Having already lost 2 points after a headbutt, this was not a good idea by Tolppola. The ref immediately waved his arms, signaling that he was stopping the fight.

Naturally, this did not go over well with the Finnish crowd, but especially not with Juho Tolppola’s dad. The man rushed at the referee, swinging at him a couple of times before being tackled/embraced with a knee to the chest by another official.

Despite losing the match, Juho must be glad that his father defended him. With Father’s Day just a couple of weeks away, he’ll be off to Hallmark to search for a “Greatest Dad Ever Who Attacked A Boxing Referee” mug.

This one slipped past us last week, but it’s still worth a look. A very-striped Mike Tyson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday night to talk about the new documentary about his life.

Kimmel didn’t hesitate to ask Tyson hard-hitting questions, going right to asking him about biting Evander Holyfield’s ear. Tyson admitted that he was just an “undisciplined soldier” during that fight. A soldier in the Bolivian Army, for sure.

There is a new documentary about Mike Tyson coming out soon, appropriately titled Tyson.

Directed by James Toback, the documentary covers the many escapades of his life & also includes interviews with Tyson.

Is there any athlete who has had a more notorious life that is more worthy of a documentary? Between his in-the-ring issues and out-of-the-ring issues, Tyson is certainly a compelling subject.

So far, Tyson has been around the festival circuit (including winning the Regard Knockout Award at last year’s Cannes Film Festival), but will see a limited release here in the United States on April 24. Judging by the trailer, it will at least be worthy of a Netflix rental.

Former Scottish amateur boxing champion Anil Kumar got the two confused, and killed his stepfather because he thought the guy was Dracula.

Kumar stabbed his father, Satpal Ghusar, with a regular kitchen knife. Everyone knows that’s not how you kill Dracula, and it was at this point that he probably realized, “Oops, if he actually was Dracula, he wouldn’t be dead. But he is. So… yeah.”

Yesterday, Kumar was acquitted of the murder when a judge ruled that he was insane, and will remain in a mental hospital rather than go to prison.
