Some minor league hockey players will toil for years in obscurity with hardly anyone knowing their name. But then there are others, like this goalie, who will manage to get everyone to know who they are.

The goals in the above video of this AHL shootout might be controversial, but Providence Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask went completely insane in his protest after the game.

After the Bruins officially lost to the Albany River Rats, Rask went after the referee, claiming the shot had hit the post. His protest denied, Rask continued to slam his stick against the pipes.

Then, on the way back to the Bruins’ bench, Tuukka Rask swung his stick at the glass, but fell as he was doing so. He then threw his stick across the ice, nearly decapitating one of his teammates in the process.

Not content to throw just a stick, Rask then threw a milk crate on to the ice. Sadly, there was no milk inside.

That was a tirade worthy of a place in hockey history. Good job, Tuukka!

Following a game against the Lowell Devils, the AHL’s Albany River Rats were suddenly woken up. On a snowy and icy night, their bus had gone out of control on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Becket, skidding off the road and into a guardrail.

Everyone on the bus was taken to the hospital, and a few suffered serious injuries including some broken bones. All players and staff, however, are expected to be okay, with no life or career threatening injuries.

After the incident, Albany River Rats head coach Jeff Daniels said, “It was scary, one of the scariest things I’ve ever been through. As quick as it happened, as you’re kind of getting tossed around the bus, it almost seemed like slow motion, and again, once the bus stopped and ended up on its side, a lot of guys were shouting and screaming to make sure everyone was okay.”

Despite their injuries, all of the members of the River Rats are feeling very lucky. The guardrail that sliced through the luggage compartment could have gone through the passenger area instead, and the story would be much sadder today. Instead, they are thankful that their harrowing tale will just be a story to tell about their experience in the minor leagues.

Adam Patterson of Portland, Maine got his New Year’s celebrating in early, picking up charges of operating under the influence, burglary, criminal mischief and violation of bail conditions after he was found drunk atop a Zamboni at the Cumberland County Civic Center, home of the AHL’s Portland Pirates.

How did police get called to the scene in the first place?

It seems that in his drunken joyride on Zambonis and forklifts, Patterson had hit a sprinkler line, which then summoned the fire department & the police.

So the lesson here is: next time you get drunk and drive a Zamboni, don’t crash into anything that will automatically call the cops.
