High School Football Team Has Game-Winning Field Goal Blocked, Scores Touchdown To Win Anyway: Video

The play is not over until the whistle sounds.

The game is not over until you tackle the guy with the ball on the last play.

Remember that – because in Michigan the Plymouth High School football team did not.

Plymouth visited Westland John Glenn for their homecoming game and appeared to have won the game after blocking John Glenn’s last-second field goal attempt.

As the Plymouth players celebrated and ran off the field, John Glenn holder Tony Wilton stood with the ball. Coaches yelled at him to run, and a few seconds later he had found the end zone.

The referees conferred as the wise commentator said, “This could make or break the game.”

Their answer: Touchdown, John Glenn. Is there anything that man can’t do?

Down in Alabama, Hackleburg High School defeated Lynn High School, but not without some controversy. There was a disputed call during the game. It doesn’t matter what the call was, or who was wrong or right because really, it’s just a high school football game, and there are more important things in life, so let’s all move on.

And everyone did move on, except for one rogue man who felt he needed to right the wrong after the final whistle sounded. Around the 1:30 mark of the video, you can begin to see him in the background, scaling a fence. The man then proceeded to run the length of the field so he could smack one of the referees with a chair. The refs all turned the attacker and made quick work of subduing him.

Apparently the Ligues have some family members down in Alabama.

Some folk’ll never attack a referee, but then again, some folk’ll…

One of my favorite YouTube videos is of a buzzer beater attempt at a school basketball game that nails a kid in the head. This video of a high school football game field goal attempt is very similar and just as entertaining.

Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to let kids play in the area behind the end zone, or at the very least someone should have given them a heads up that there was a kick on the way so they wouldn’t get hit. That wouldn’t have given us this great video though, so it all worked out in the end for everyone except that guy.

High School Football Game Moved Due to Toothpicks

A Michigan high school football team was forced to move a big game due to an unlikely culprit: toothpicks.

It seems that some pranksters thought it would be a genius idea to dump thousands of toothpicks on the field sometime before Tawas & Alcona were set to play.

Officials wisely determined that thousands of pointy pieces of wood would not make for a very safe football game and moved the contest 40 miles to Alcona’s stadium.

The change didn’t hurt Tawas, who won 49-0 and earned a playoff spot.

It is not known who was responsible for the toothpicks, but students from Oscoda, who lost to Tawas 72-0 a few weeks ago, are suspected. Fans and officials from Tawas have since removed the offending toothpicks from the field one-by-one and will celebrate with hors d’oeuvres.
