Hines Ward doesn’t care for texting while driving, but is totally cool with drunk driving (w/ mug shot photo)

Sooner or later, Georgia authorities are going to have to stop all Pittsburgh Steelers from crossing their borders.

Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested early Saturday morning in DeKalb County, Georgia for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

It is unknown what is written under “obey” on Ward’s mug shot t-shirt, but it is unlikely that it says “your local DUI laws”.

As Busted Coverage points out, it was only Friday morning that Hines Ward discussed on Facebook how dangerous texting while driving is.

He apparently does not have the same negative feelings toward drunk driving.

Drew Brees! You’ve just won the Super Bowl! Where are you going to go?

I’m going to go on the Oprah Winfrey show and have her awkwardly rub at my face!

Drew Brees’ birthmark on his face is widely known in the sports world. By this point, most bloggers have moved on from remarking on it. But not Oprah.

When Brees appeared on her show, the esteemed host thought his birthmark was lipstick and tried to rub it off. She quickly moved on once she realized that no amount of rubbing was going to remove it from his face.

Great job, Oprah. Perhaps a little bit more guest prep might be in order next time? Or you know, you could always not touch their faces. That works too.

San Francisco Chronicle NFC Championship Headline Fail

This is what happens when you lay people off and replace them with a team of monkeys with typewriters.

The day after the New Orleans Saints beat the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship, this was the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle’s sports section.

Saints 31, Packers 28.

That’s quite the impressive scoring line from a team that was ice fishing or hanging out in hot tubs or whatever one does during the off-season in Green Bay.

Memo to the Chronicle: Brett Favre no longer plays for the Packers. He also does not play for the Colts, the Jets, the Saints, the Bengals, the Roughriders, or any other football team you might try to place him with besides the Vikings. At least until he retires during the off-season and signs somewhere else.

Tennessee fans riot after Lane Kiffin bolts for USC (video)

I’ll admit, when I first heard that Tennessee fans were rioting and causing mayhem after Lane Kiffin announced he was leaving for USC, I figured the reports of the size of the crowd were exaggerated. But unless the video above is from the 2010 Knoxville Night-time Marathon, there were a ton of people who turned out to run Kiffin out of town (or to keep him from leaving, I’m not sure which).

With Lane Kiffin’s address being posted online, and reports such as this one from Renaldo Woolridge of tear gas being used on fans, this will certainly only be the first video to come out of Tennessee. Once others are posted, they’ll be added below.

A few weeks back, WFAN’s Craig Carton made the mistake of saying the Jets wouldn’t make the playoffs. And honestly, who wouldn’t have made that same error? Nobody expected that they would be fortunate enough to have their last two opponents go on vacation to end the regular season.

Carton’s claim wasn’t that bad, but he was so confident in his prediction that he said he would walk across the Brooklyn Bridge in a Speedo if the Jets made the playoffs. Mistake.

But followed by a band, overconfident Jets fans, and girls in bikinis, Carton made good on his promise. It looks like it was very cold in New York.

Between this and Rex Ryan telling the Jets when the Super Bowl parade is going to be, it will be all that more amusing watching the Jets get rolled by the Bengals later today.

Was Bernie Kosar drunk when his interview for “The U” – 30 for 30 was filmed?

Since I actually left the house on a Saturday night, I didn’t see “The U” on ESPN tonight. The latest installment of the network’s “30 for 30″ series covered the Miami Hurricanes. Bernie Kosar’s interview clips were apparently quite interesting.

Twitter is all abuzz about the condition of Bernie Kosar. The consensus is he was either drunk during the interview, has some sort of health problem, or morphed into Artie Lange or Joe Namath. Whatever the case, Bernie did not sound or look good.

Of course, Bernie was hired as a special consultant to the Cleveland Browns, which makes any drinking problem perfectly understandable.

It will be interesting to see if Bill Simmons addresses this seemingly drunken interview at some point. If it hadn’t been a project he was involved in and had been on another network, you know he would have remarked on it immediately. Will he censor himself, or will he risk another ESPN Twitter suspension?

New England Patriots mascot arrested in prostitution sting

If you thought that being a mascot was enough to get you tons of women, think again. Even mascots have to pay for sex. Just ask the New England Patriots’ “Pat the Patriot.”

Rhode Island State Police arrested 14 people involved with prostitution, including 47-year-old Robert Sormanti, who is was one of the people who played Pat the Patriot.

Sormanti has been suspended by the Patriots, who issued a statement saying, “The Pat Patriot mascot costume is worn by multiple people, each of whom are held responsible and accountable for their actions. The individual in question has been suspended. The mascot responsibilities will continue to be fulfilled by others.”

He should have told the police officers that he was just getting the hooker so he could use the carpool lane to get to Gillette Stadium.

EJ Henderson breaks his leg: Video

Warning: This video is graphic. If you don’t want to see a leg dangle in a way it’s not supposed to, don’t watch.

When Eric Wood broke his leg a couple of weeks ago, I said that I was surprised that sort of freak, high-speed injury didn’t happen more often. It was not a request for more players to break their legs.

The Vikings’ E.J. Henderson got hit by teammate Jamarca Sanford in the 4th quarter of tonight’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. Sanford hit Henderson while both tried to tackle Tim Hightower and Henderson’s leg took the brunt of the hit. At full speed, it doesn’t look like it was that bad, but slow-motion replays show the extent of the brutal injury.

E.J. Henderson was carted off the field with a broken femur. The Vikings sustained several injuries during the game, but this final blow could be the biggest, and it was certainly the most gruesome.
