Danica Patrick is a talented Indycar racer, but she’s also prone to making stupid mistakes that would keep any driver from even obtaining a driver’s license in the first place.

Need evidence? Check out this video from Saturday’s Indycar practice in Iowa. Danica came into the pits a little bit too fast and too close to the wall and nailed one of her crewmen.

And people want to put her behind the wheel of a much heavier & less responsive NASCAR car? She’d better learn how to run an entire race on one set of tires because everyone’s going to be too afraid to run out and change them.

Previously, we mentioned how various IndyCar drivers were in New York yesterday to promote the Indianapolis 500. In addition to Sarah Fisher’s visit to The Daily Show, Helio Castroneves, Ryan Briscoe, and Dario Franchitti appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

Keeping in the tradition of Jimmy Fallon having odd competitions with guests, the four men had a milk drinking face-off. The winner was Dario Franchitti, but you have to watch the video to see just how he pulled it off.

All of the Indianapolis 500 drivers were in New York yesterday to promote the race, but Sarah Fisher got the best assignment, as she got to appear on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Fisher discussed the usual topics, such as what it’s like to drive your car & what’s scarier, driving at that speed or owning your own business these days (definitely owning a business, said Fisher). She also recounted the story of how she got together with her husband: She hit him with her car.

Note to the ladies out there, running over a guy with your car is not a recommended method of picking up men. It may have worked for Sarah Fisher, but please don’t try it yourself.

Someone at Versus is a little bit too eager to promote the event though. Versus is running ads on Google Adsense that promote the IndyCar race as a Formula One race. Even NASCAR fans can tell you that, beyond both being open-wheel series, they are not at all the same.

Is Versus just hoping that nobody will notice when, instead of Lewis Hamilton & Felipe Massa, they see a race with Danica Patrick & Scott Dixon?

Here are a couple of examples of the advertisement that Versus is running through Google Ads on various F1 sites:

There are so many mistakes with this ad that one has to wonder if Versus is staffed by chimpanzees.

First, there is the obvious fact that Formula One is not IndyCar.

Second, “streets” does not contain 3 instances of the letter “E.”

Third, St. Petersburg is not spelled “St. Petersburgh.”

Other than that, these ads for IndyCar are great.

Trying to advertise IndyCar races on a F1 site is a perfectly good way try to get some crossover race fans. However, Versus should be honest about what series they are showing. IndyCar has some great action and the product deserves more respect than that.

As anyone who is happy to have a four-day work week knows, Friday is Independence Day. On this Fourth of July, we’ll take a moment to reflect – reflect upon how awful some attempts at singing the National Anthem have been. What’s more American than subjecting people to public ridicule and shame?

It’s not easy singing the National Anthem, especially with bad sound and tens of thousands of drunk sports fans watching. While O Canada sounds like a drinking song, the Star Spangled Banner is tough for even an experienced singer to master. What’s interesting though is that the Star Spangled Banner is actually set to the tune of an old British drinking song. Maybe a pint or two would have helped some of these singers.

While the clip of Leslie Nielsen singing the National Anthem as Lt. Frank Drebin/Enrico Pallazzo in The Naked Gun is for a laugh, all of these other singers were unfortunately actually trying their best.

The first example is one of the worst renditions of any song ever, nevermind the National Anthem. Carl Lewis should have had his Olympic medals taken away for his 1993 attempt during a game between the New Jersey Nets and Chicago Bulls.

Next up, we have Cuba Gooding, Sr., who serves as additional proof that a lack of talent won’t keep anyone in his family from performing, whether it’s in some horrible movie or singing the National Anthem at some basketball tournament.

Moving outdoors, this is Roseanne, ensuring that no eardrums were left unshattered in San Diego before a Padres game in 1990. She was so bad that President Bush called her "disgraceful."

Another disgraceful performance comes from Steven Tyler of Aerosmith at the 2001 Indianapolis 500. On Memorial Day, Tyler honored American veterans by pissing a lot of them off. He starts with some inexplicable harmonica playing, and it only gets worse from there. Not only was his singing bad, he manged a couple of the words, then capped it all off by closing the song with the words "home of the Indianapolis 500."

While this rendition from no-talent ass clown Michael Bolton isn’t entirely awful, he does forget the words, while giving an excuse to use some Office Space quotes. Why should I change? He’s the one who sucks!

A lot of National Anthem singers might screw up once. Canadian singer Caroline Marcil manages to do it 3 times at a hockey game. She messes up, starts over, messes up again, then leaves. She comes back, falls down on her ass on the ice, then wisely decides to just give up.

We close with a National Anthem rendition that could have gone as one of the worst ever, but ultimately ends up being one of the best. Natalie Gilbert won a contest to sing the Star Spangled Banner at a Portland Trailblazers game during the 2003 NBA Playoffs. Unfortunately, she had difficulty with the worlds. Enter Coach Mo Cheeks, who guided her the rest of the way along with some help from the crowd.

Have a fun and safe Fourth of July, and if any of you will be singing the Star-Spangled Banner at any sporting events, please remember to videotape it all for us.

Fox has rejected Internet services company Go Daddy’s first choice television commercial for this year’s Super Bowl. The reason? It included the word “beaver.”

The ad featured Go Daddy girls Candice Michelle and Danica Patrick, as well as animated and animatronic beavers emerging from cars. If that wasn’t enough for you, some other models were included as well.

According to CEO Bob Parsons, the company “refused to bend and refer to the beaver as ‘whiskers’ or ‘furry friend’ or as a ‘little engineer that specializes in building small dams.’ Darn it. There’s simply nothing wrong with calling a beaver, a beaver!”

Amen.

While the ad won’t see TV time due to Fox’s hatred of semi-aquatic mammals, Go Daddy will still air an ad that will point viewers to their website, where they will be able to view the uncensored ad starting on Super Bowl Sunday.

This issue raises one question: What will Fox do if Oregon State reaches the BCS Championship Game?
