Fan Gets Tased At Oakland A’s Game: Video
Crowds at Oakland A’s games this season have been quiet. However, stadium officials may have found a way to get the crowd to make some noise: just tase one of them.
The incident occurred during the 7th inning of last night’s game between the Athletics and the Texas Rangers. The video shows an older man who appears to refuse to get up for police when asked. He is then tased by the Oakland PD, much to the outrage of some of the onlookers. Everyone is just lucky they weren’t BART cops.
The man continued to wave his arms around as a police officer was trying to handcuff him, and it appears he was then tased further. One person tried to get closer to get photos or video of the arrest, and ends up getting shoved back down the stairs by an usher. Oh, and then, because there wasn’t enough action, a foul ball gets hit right to where everyone is standing.
We don’t know what exactly caused the man to become belligerent, but if YouTube user goldengirl7516 is accurate, this is the best eyewitness account so far:
I was sitting about 5 rows in front of him and he was actually a Texas fan and he kept yelling obnoxiously. The usher who had been very nice went over and made a joke. And dude flipped out screaming and swearing saying get outta my fing face and calling him the n word. They called security and he was still screaming and swearing. So the police came and while they were trying to put handcuffs on him he kept trying to swing at them. So they tasered him and he fell and hit his head.
And thus, the Oakland A’s first annual “Get Tased By The Police” promotion was a rousing success.
