I agree, it's disappointing to see. If the league doesn't do something about it, we're going to see hockey go back to how it was pre-lockout. The league needs more play like the Pens-Caps series if they ever hope to have casual fans watching again.

Fan boy? Nope, I hate the Red Wings.

Guys shove each other all the time. I'm not saying Zetterberg was innocent for that, but Malkin went batshit and went after him. That's why he got the instigator penalty. He has clearly been frustrated by this series.

Now of course, as Hockey Watcher said below, Detroit's style of play is an entirely different matter. I don't like it either, but that doesn't mean this was an appropriate response.

Watching the NHL look the other way for what Detroit's doing is why the sport will never pass baseball or basketball in this country. Pens-Caps was a joy to watch, as interference was called allowing Crosby and Ovechkin to show their skills. Detroit however doesn't care about the game, just getting away with as much as possible. Watch when Crosby or Malkin skates into their zone, they never play the puck just tie up the man. This is exactly the "garage hockey" the stars of the '80s and '90s warned us about. Now we're getting it with the Detroit Deadly Boring Wings, who've turned hockey into pro wrestling.

P.S. Yeah the league is so trying to avoid a sweep, they're letting Cheaterberg get away with gloving pucks in the crease not once but twice this series. Not to mention dive into nets head first and try and take the net off its mooring. Oh and of course let the whole Cheat Wing team interfere like nobody's business.

Wow that's some biased view of things you have there. Yeah like poor little Cheaterberg was just standing around all innocent -- look at the replay, Malkin swings at him AFTER Zetterboy lashes out at another Penguins player, FIRST. So it's Zetterberg who is actually the real instigator. Malkin is only sticking up for his teammate. Better go get yourself a replay, fan boy.
