This is absolutely ridiculous. This officer was down right rude and disrespectful. He obviously watched too many westerns and played to many games of cops and robbers growing up. I believe Moats had every right to react the way he did. I read an earlier report that stated Officer Powell actually pulled his gun when Moats' family members got out of the SUV?! Didn't point it, but just pulled it -- like the "Car full of blacks was going to get him!" Why if a black man is driving a nice car -- automatically they have already been labeled a criminal? Tow his car?! Proof of Insurance?! And now his mother-in-law is dead. This story disgusts me.

Being a police officer involves a lot of common sense. This officer has none. He should look for a different profession.

This is so awful. Of course we all have to respect police officers and the fact that they put themselves in the line of fire during dangerous situations. But, the police officer here was just plain wrong. No compassion. No heart. No common sense.

I'm not advocating violence, but these are the types of cops that deserve to be kicked in the nuts.. if he didnt have his badge and a gun i'm sure he wouldnt feel nearly as Bold and Big as he was when he was making him find his insurance card.. I respect the police but at the same time I would have told him to F-off and knee'd him in the nuts...

Simply awful. Why couldn't an officer escort them into the hospital and the other(s) stay behind?
