Video: Golden Shower – Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Hawaii Warriors – Hawaii Bowl

During the Hawaii Bowl between Notre Dame and Hawaii, a hard hit led to Notre Dame player Michael Floyd’s helmet losing some pieces. That alone is a strange occurrence, but more interesting was the choice of words used by one of the announcers (Dave Pasch).

As golden bits of paint showered the ground, Pasch put some words together and described the helmet shattering as a “golden shower”. Sir, I do not think you know what that means.

Presumably, the guy also uses this reference in other situations where it is in no way appropriate.

  • When he gets home to his wife, he’ll give her an gold bracelet and necklace, saying “Enjoy the golden shower, honey!”
  • When he travels to California, a prediction of rain in the Golden State will lead him to declare, “Golden showers tonight for everyone on the coast!”
  • And finally, as he tells the story of Christmas, “And the three wise men gave Jesus frankincense, myrrh, and a golden shower.”

By the way, the Fighting Irish beat the Warriors 49-21 to win their first bowl game since the 1993 season.
