Oklahoma’s DeMarcus Granger is Not Content With His Bowl Game Gifts, Gets Busted For Shoplifting
Oklahoma Sooners defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger will not be playing in the Fiesta Bowl against the West Virginia Mountaineers this week, after being sent home following his arrest for shoplifting at Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe, Arizona.
Granger apparently decided that his bowl gift package of a Vizio 20-inch, LCD HDTV, Tourneau watch, Oakley sunglasses and hat was not enough, so he swiped a coat from Burlington Coat Factory as well.
“Mr. Granger removed an anti-theft device from a jacket and then concealed the jacket in a bag. He exited the store walking past the cash registers without paying for the jacket,” said Mike Horn, a spokesman for the Tempe Police Department.
Yes, they sell jackets here in Arizona. Though it is amusing that someone would come here to steal one. You’d think there would be a better selection in a place with colder weather. It has been pretty cold here lately though, so perhaps he didn’t bring one thinking it would be warmer. Maybe next time DeMarcus will watch the Weather Channel before traveling anywhere.
This will be the first of many posts in the coming weeks about athletes committing crimes in Arizona. With the Insight Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, FBR Open and of course, Super Bowl XLII on the horizon, there will be plenty of athletes and celebrities here in town. That alone, coupled with the new strict DUI laws, will provide plenty of blog material. It’s like Christmas & Hanukkah all over again!
